Let’s talk it through

Big decisions.
Honest answers.

Every family is different. Here are a few things you might be wondering.

How will my child settle?

You and your child can spend time here together before starting. A familiar key teacher learns their routines and cues, and plans settling with you. Every child finds their feet differently. If drop-off is hard, the team will comfort your child and keep you updated.

What does a typical day look like?

There’s a gentle rhythm rather than a strict timetable: a familiar welcome, play and discovery, time outdoors, fresh meals shared together and quieter moments for rest. Teachers follow each child’s interests and needs, so no two children experience the day exactly the same way.

What happens at sleep or rest time?

Rest follows your child’s needs, not the clock. Infants sleep according to their own routines, and older children have calm places to pause, rest or sleep. Talk with your child’s key teacher about what works at home, so we can follow a familiar approach.

How do teachers support friendships, feelings and behaviour?

Teachers help children understand their feelings and navigate friendships with kindness: learning to negotiate, cooperate, repair relationships and belong alongside others. Big feelings are supported with warmth, never punished.

How will I hear about my child’s day and learning?

Storypark is our main place for notices, conversations, photos and stories of your child’s learning, and you can share moments from home too. Your child’s key teacher will also talk with you about your hopes and goals for them.

What should my child bring?

Weather-appropriate clothing for outdoor play in every season. Our clothing and gumboot library can help fill the gaps. Ask the team for a full list when you visit.

Do children go outside in different weather?

Yes, when it’s safe. Fresh air, movement and nature are part of Canopy’s approach in every season. Pack weather-appropriate clothing; our clothing and gumboot library can help fill the gaps.

What about food and allergies?

Our centre cook prepares fresh, nourishing meals onsite. Talk with the team about allergies and any individual health or allergy plan your child may need before starting.

What are your hours?

Monday to Friday, 7.30 am–5.30 pm, excluding public holidays and planned closure dates. Ask the team about available session options.

What will it cost?

Fees depend on your child’s age and the sessions you need. 20 Hours ECE applies to eligible children, and FamilyBoost may help eligible families. Ask us to explain your options and what your family’s fees would be.

Is there a place for my child?

Let us know your child’s age and the days or sessions you’re looking for. The team can discuss current availability and next steps with you.
